India has marked a significant milestone in its millet export journey with the successful shipment of botanical-infused ready-to-cook millet functional foods from Karnataka to New Zealand. The export, facilitated by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), represents the country's first sea shipment of this category of value-added millet products.

The one-metric-tonne consignment was exported by Bengaluru-based Infini Agrotek LLP after establishing international business connections through APEDA-supported trade exhibitions, including World Food India, Indus Food, and Gulfood. The shipment reflects increasing global demand for innovative millet-based foods that combine traditional grains with modern functional ingredients.

The development is expected to strengthen India's agri-export ecosystem by expanding market access for millet products, encouraging value addition, and creating better income opportunities for millet farmers. It also reinforces India's position as a growing supplier of nutritious, climate-resilient, and premium millet-based foods to international markets.
