A dedicated training programme on millet and vegetable processing is scheduled to take place in Hyderabad on April 26 at the Telangana Horticulture Training Institute (THTI), Red Hills. The initiative is designed to promote value addition in agriculture while creating awareness about nutritious and sustainable food processing practices.
The programme, organised by the Telangana Horticulture Department under the “Mana Illu Mana Kuragayalu” initiative, will provide participants with practical knowledge on processing techniques, preservation methods, packaging, and marketing of millet- and vegetable-based products. The training aims to help farmers, self-help groups, and aspiring food entrepreneurs improve product quality and reduce post-harvest losses.
Experts involved in the programme noted that value-added processing can open new income opportunities while encouraging the consumption of healthier foods. With increasing interest in millets and functional foods, such initiatives are expected to support small-scale enterprises and strengthen local food systems.
The session will be conducted from 10 am to 1 pm and is open to individuals interested in food processing, nutrition, and agri-based entrepreneurship.
