30 August 2026:
As part of the World Millet Day observance, Millets & Wellness Mission, Shantigram conducted a special online meeting from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM, bringing together members of the millet, health and academic communities.
The programme was organised following the call given by MBF Universe and Millets International Media Portal encouraging organisations and communities to undertake meaningful millet-related activities on 30 August – World Millet Day.
The key speaker, Padma Shri Dr. Khader Valli, popularly known as the Millet Man, spoke extensively about millets, food habits, lifestyle and long-term health.
A major focus of his address was men’s fertility. Dr. Khader Valli expressed concern over what he described as increasing fertility-related challenges among men, particularly after the age of 40, and said reproductive health could become an important concern for future generations.
He stressed the need to reconsider present-day food habits and advocated greater use of millets and traditional foods as part of healthier dietary practices. His remarks connected everyday food choices with broader concerns around long-term health and future generations.
Around 100 participants, including doctors, scientists, professors, millet manufacturers, entrepreneurs, intellectuals and members of the millet community, joined the two-hour interaction.
The session became an important health-focused programme under the World Millet Day celebrations, bringing the discussion beyond millet cultivation and nutrition to issues concerning lifestyle and future wellbeing.
