The Jharkhand government has launched a special campaign to encourage millet cultivation as a climate-resilient solution to the state's rainfall deficit. With below-normal monsoon rainfall and the possibility of El Niño affecting agriculture, the initiative aims to help farmers shift towards crops that require less water and are better suited to dry conditions.

Under the campaign, farmers are being provided with quality millet seeds, technical guidance, and training on improved cultivation practices. The drive is part of the Jharkhand State Millet Mission, which seeks to expand millet cultivation, strengthen food security, and improve farmers' incomes through sustainable agriculture.

The government believes millets offer an effective alternative to water-intensive crops such as paddy, helping farmers reduce climate-related risks while maintaining productivity. The initiative also supports the revival of traditional grains and aligns with broader efforts to promote climate-smart farming across the state.
