Russia exported more than 780,000 tonnes of "other grains" during the 2025/26 marketing year, marking a 14% increase over the previous season and the country's second-highest export volume for this category. The export basket was dominated by millet, oats and buckwheat, which together accounted for more than 87% of total shipments.

China remained the largest destination, purchasing around 61% of Russia's exports of these grains. While oats accounted for the largest share of shipments to China, millet continued to be one of the key export commodities contributing to Russia's growing presence in international coarse grain markets. Other major buyers included Turkey, Iraq, Kazakhstan and Mongolia.

The latest export figures underline the increasing importance of alternative grains such as millet in global trade. Rising international demand, particularly from Asian markets, is creating new opportunities for exporters and reinforcing millet's role in diversified grain supply chains beyond traditional cereals.
